The Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive / Promoting Interoperability (PI) Program understands providers might experience business impacts and other unforeseen difficulties as a result of the declaration of a state of emergency and public health disaster in Texas resulting from the global COVID-19 pandemic. To assist providers during this time, beginning March 30 the EHR/PI Program will temporarily modify certain policies and processes related to audits and appeals as follows:

Audits

  • New audits will not be initiated for 30 days
  • The audit remediation period is extended to 30 days for all providers
  • Providers should contact their assigned audit point-of-contact at DK Partners, HHSC’s contracted audit firm, for all audit related extension considerations and requests

Appeals

  • HHSC will consider written requests for an extension to the Draft Audit Report and/or Final Audit Report appeal deadlines on a case-by-case basis
  • The Final Audit Report provider memorandum submission deadline is extended to 30 days for all providers
  • HHSC will temporarily halt notifications by USPS certified mail and will rely exclusively on electronic communication for delivery of appeal-related documents to the provider
  • Providers may contact HHSC for all appeal-related extension requests by email at EHR_audit_appeals@hhsc.state.tx.us
